RECLAMATION

Welcome to Carola Clay Studio.

Here you can find the works of I, Stacia Carola, an artist in Southwest Colorado, exploring the Southwest landscapes.

This current body of work RECLAMATION will be months long as I go through the process of reclaiming my artist and ceramicist identity. I hope to share my love of clay and experiences in the natural world through the form of objects made with intention to be used in every day life.

INTENTION is a theme that rattles through my mind lately while making pots in my living room studio. An old idea, but applied into a more modern context. I feel that with platforms like Instagram, artists and creators are pressured to release material to the world so often to keep up with the algorithm. This fast paced advertising and production on social media seems to take the magic of the process away, and leaves viewers flooded with too much information. Artists and creators become muddled and probably quickly forgotten by the time the next artist time-lapse video rolls around. There are many artists who feel this way about the internet right now, so how can we create intentional space to support the artists and entrepreneurs we align with? How do we make breathing room in a cluttered society?

To dive deep into these themes with me, please visit my Patreon page to see blog posts, current work in progress, early shop updates, and options to join a monthly Mug Club.

If you're a surface skimmer, that's ok too. Explore my website to see work made in my college years, as well as early years living in Durango, Colorado.
